Mercantile Home is Where the Heart is.

If you're local (ish) I want to invite you to come out tomorrow night September 6th, 2014 to Mercantile Home for the opening reception of their newest collection Gypsy Caravan. I'm giddy with excitement to collaborate with Ron and Ken, partners and owners of this eclectic open space studio/gallery. Mercantile Home is located downtown Easton, PA at 140 St. Northampton in the Grand Eastonian Suites Hotel, and that is where they design and produce artful personal and home accessories utilizing new, organic, and recycled materials.

So often we talk about cultivating community and making genuine connections with those around us- and I want to tell you that is exactly what these guys are doing! I'm totally smitten. In addition to running a successful business of their own, Ron and Ken celebrate and support local shops and commerce. Mercantile hosts a Distinctive Music Series (Live at the Gold Room) featuring nationally touring musical acts, manages a Community Garden in collaboration with the West Ward Neighborhood Partnership, teaches Sunday afternoon “Home Ec” classes in their studio, participates as weekly vendors at the Easton Farmers’ Market, and has spearheaded a number of  Easton community art projects. A vibrant pulse flows from their 400 square foot store front and is the heart of a growing art movement downtown in Historic Easton. If you're not lucky enough to drop in you can still catch up with their inspiring works and connect on Facebook or Instagram.
Watch the video below for a look inside!

With the storefront windows cloaked in black, the guys are diligently remodeling the entire layout, stock, and decor in preparation for tomorrow opening. Quarterly focused collections are masterfully planned and the business shuts down a week in advance to set up. I had a chance to step inside Wednesday while dropping off stock and I can already tell you there are some purchases I need to make! The Gypsy Caravan collection promises art, objects and curiosities celebrating the gathering together of creative energy and the arrival of autumn! How wonderful does that sounds!? Welcoming the talents of artists Joseph Ryan Gourniak and Tom Schottman and my TrashN2Tees upcycled creations.
Opening reception from 4-7pm, I hope to see you there!
